The series investigates society’s commitment to environmental sustainability through panel discussions with subject matter experts. The final program of the first part of the series, entitled Living in a Disposable World: Recycling the Future focused on consumer culture and society’s tendency to create significant consumer waste. Kraft, who is PSA-Dewberry’s green focus group leader, brought perspective on how architects and engineers are furthering the green movement in the building industry. His discussion focused on extending building life cycles through innovative designs and building materials, as well as an explanation of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building System. Other members of the program’s diverse panel included moderator Susan S. Szenasy, editor of Metropolis Magazine, Sara Willis Hartwell of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Julie Bargmann of D.I.R.T Studio, and artist Chris Jordan.
