Awards for Excellence Winners Earlier this year, Dewberry’s most prestigious projects from 2008 were honored through the firm’s annual Awards for Excellence program. Reviewed by an external jury, projects were recognized for exceeding client expectations and demonstrating a premier level of quality, professionalism, project management, and innovation. In the architectural design category, the Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center (ATRC) at Oklahoma State University’s Tulsa campus was honored for its integration of the visual arts into an innovative scientific environment. Cited by one awards jury member as a “‘Field of Dreams’ for architecture,” the entire building was designed around a fixed module which allows for expansion of laboratory space from 600 to 6,000 square feet while maintaining Speed and Flexibility a Highlight of This Year’s Winners continuous infrastructure to each laboratory module. The Oklahoma Forensic Center was honored in the collaboration category for the project team’s consistent collaboration with the facility’s staff. The approach helped the team make decisions about challenging program objectives for this residential treatment facility that provides services for up to 200 mental health patients within the state correctional program. Contributing to the development of a functional facility that is aesthetically pleasing has positively affected the morale and effectiveness of the facility’s staff. A post-disaster flood analysis and mapping project in New York was also awarded in the collaboration category. For this restudy of flood hazards in three major New York watersheds for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, multiple Dewberry business units across 10 locations collaborated closely to provide a unified client service.
