Grain Journal - January/February 2009 - (Page 18) Great Lakes Regional Conference GEAPS/IAOM • APRIL 15-17 • POTAWATOMI INN • ANGOLA, IN The 13th annual Grain Elevator and Processing Society’s (GEAPS) and International Association of Operative Millers’ (IAOM) Great Lakes Regional Conference will be held April 15-17 at the Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park near Angola, IN. The regional conference and trade show typically draws close to 180 attendees and over 35 exhibitors and is organized by the Michigan-Southern Ontario, Hoosier, and Seaway GEAPS chapters and the Wolverine and Ohio Valley IAOM districts. Wednesday, April 15 The program begins at 5 p.m. with a GEAPS Tri-Chapter Leader Idea Sharing meeting for all current and future board members. A social gathering will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 16 Professor Rawle Hollingsworth at Michigan State University, East Lansing, will speak on The Acre Initiative and progress toward an agri-centric resource expansion during a continental breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. At 9 a.m., five hours of training on Arc Flash (NFPA-70E) will be followed by a session by Emerson Power covering mounted bearings and shaft-mounted speed reducers. Throughout the day, small pod sessions on 3D safety training will be held. Educational sessions running concurrently include: • Contractor Safety. • Ethanol Update. • Employee Handbooks. • Dealing With Troubled Employees. • Dryer Efficiency. Friday, April 17 Four education sessions in the morning: • Toshiba Motors. • Energy Audits. • Regulatory Issues Update. • Safety Programs. More info.
