Milling Journal - Q1 2008 - (Page 18) might be a few more hiccups this year than in recent years. Therefore, we hope we’ll have a high response rate on our conference evaluation forms. IAOM’s 2009 conference. Looking forward, we’ve booked conference facilities in Grand Rapids, MI for the 2009 Conference. The extra planning time will allow a little extra flexibility depending on what corrections might need to be made to the new format. The venue in Grand Rapids was host of the fall meeting of the Niagara, Ohio Valley and Wolverine districts, and the standing committees last year. The feedback we received on the venue and location was extremely positive. I think our members are going to be thrilled with the meeting in Grand Rapids—the facilities are a good fit for a conference of our size. The other nice thing about Grand Rapids is that the venue is in the downtown district, so there are plenty of things to see and do within walking distance of the hotel and convention center. tification program. We envision two major components in the program as: • Completion of the IAOM Correspondence Course. • Eight weeklong modules with handson training. We plan to start offering the weeklong training modules at KSU in 2009. At least two of the eight weeklong modules will be offered each quarter. This will allow more flexibility for participants to complete the program without having to be away from the workplace more than one or two weeks at a time. The program content is being developed by KSU’s Department of Grain Science & Industry, and will be reviewed by the IAOM Education Committee.
