So, the various barriers that one might expect to impede the sharing of information are really not as insurmountable as they may seem upon first glance. Technological advantage. I also believe that technology is going to be key as IAOM continues to grow globally. Our current website serves as a solid foundation today, but we will need to continue to utilize technological advancements to aid the integration of our districts and enhance our ability to share information. We have started to discuss spring of 2009 as a target date for an initial meeting in the region. MJ: What influenced you to learn Russian? Farris: “An inter-term trip to the Soviet Union in January 1989. I was fascinated by the history, people, and rich culture. I wanted to learn more about the country and its people and be able to converse with them in their own language.” Strategies Committee that will be working toward developing a game plan for the further integration of international and local IAOM districts. As a first step, the Global Strategies Committee is developing an IAOM Ambassador program, where an international delegate is paired up with a long-time IAOM member and conference attendee who can facilitate introductions with other members. Additionally, local Ambassadors can introduce guests to the area and help make their visit to the United States more enjoyable. We are trying to get this in place in time for the Orlando Conference. This is just an effort to help make our international members feel welcome and part of the IAOM community.
