Milling Journal - Q1 2008 - (Page 70) Automatic Bulk Scale J & S Scale Fabricators • Hutchinson, KS 888-665-5969 J & S Scale Fabricators Inc. introduced its first automatic bulk scale to the milling industry in 1996. President Dennis Johnson says the company, which was founded in 1958, manufactures, sells, and services scales for vehicles, livestock, and bulk-weighing. “Our early engineering and design relationship with Howe-Richardson Scale—a company that has been manufacturing scales since the early 1900s— gave birth to the idea for our current scale,” Johnson says. Operation and Models The heart of J & S Scale’s bulk scale is a patented rotary gate that is virtually maintenance free. Johnson adds that it needs very little force to operate. “We manufacture four basic models of bulk scales for the milling industry: 2,500 bph, 10,000 bph, 15,000 bph, and 20,000 bph,” Johnson says. In addition to these standard sizes, Johnson says optional capacities are available upon request. Features • All scales are NTEP-approved and legal for trade. • J & S Scales have been installed throughout the Midwest, with some installations on the West Coast. • Scales are built for accuracy, Product Review J & S Scale began manufacturing automatic bulk scales for the milling industry in 1996. economy, low maintenance, and easy installation.
