QuickTox screens for deoxynivalenol (DON, also called vomitoxin) in wheat, barley, and corn at three detection levels, .5 ppm, 1 ppm or 2 ppm. "The test is a rapid, qualitative screening tool that enables grain handlers, processors, or millers to determine quickly whether field samples or grain deliveries meet required DON thresholds," says EnviroLogix Vice President of Marketing and Sales Dean Layton. EnviroLogix has been developing and manufacturing immunoassay test kits for every link in the worldwide food chain since 1996. The company manufactures all of its test kits on site in Portland, ME. The QuickTox Kit for DON received a certificate of performance in July 2007 by the USDA Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) for rapid screeing for vomitoxin. In November 2007, QuickTox also received GIPSA approval for corn testing. The kit screens wheat, barley and corn for vomitoxin at three levels: .5 ppm, 1.0 ppm, or 2.0 ppm.
