Milling Journal - Q3 2008 - (Page 45) Durum Marketing Alliance Formed GrainCorp and CHS Inc. join together to promote bulk durum exports Australia-based GrainCorp and CHS Inc., Inver Grove Heights, MN on Aug. 8 announced the formation of a grain marketing alliance to export bulk durum, integrating the Australian durum industry into the CHS global supply. According to the marketing alliance, CHS will provide access to a range of new markets for Australian durum growers, which GrainCorp says will encourage growth of durum production. GrainCorp, one of Australia’s largest grain handling and storage companies, operates over 250 grain accumulation sites, receiving and storing grain for growers in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. GrainCorp Managing Director Mark Irwin said, “GrainCorp brings the strength of our wheat desk, our upcountry grain accumulation and storage expertise, our road and rail logistics, and port infrastructure to this alliance. “CHS brings their expertise as a leading durum marketer and processor, a strong relationships they have with the world’s leading durum processors,” he said. “For the first time in the history of the MILLING news durum industry in Australia,” Irwin added, “we will be able to leverage a strategic relationship with a truly global marketer, not just sell to a limited number of markets.” CHS Grain Marketing Senior Vice President Rick Browne said, “The partnership with GrainCorp will allow CHS to create more value for its durum customers by providing them access to Australian durum, in addition to North American and Mexican durum.” Adam Tedder, contributing editor . Weisenberger served for a number of years on the boards of directors of the Millers’ National Federation and American Corn Millers Federation until 1998 when he turned associaPhil Weisenberger tion representation over to his son, Mac Weisenberger, who is on the current North American Millers’ Association Board. Weisenberger Mill, dating to 1862, is the oldest commercial water-powered mill in Kentucky and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
