TEMP-AIR has developed a mobile direct-fired heating unit—MHT-1500—to aid mills in treating their empty storage facilities prior to filling them with grain. "The MHT-1500 heater from TEMPAIR is a propane-fueled mobile solution for pest management in on-farm storage structures, like bins and silos, and in grain processing facilities," says TEMP-AIR senior scientist for thermal remediation Dr. Raj Hulasare. According to Hulasare, the MHT-1500 uses heat as a non-chemical, non-residual, and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical fumigation. The mobile unit was developed with funding from PERC (Propane Education and Research Council) and was tested successfully in field trials in collaboration with Purdue University. The self-contained trailer system includes a 1.5 million-BTU-per-hour, directfired, makeup air heater; 150-gallon propane tank, 30 kW generator; vaporizer; up to 250 ft of ductwork (onboard storage for 100 ft. of duct); and digital temperature controls. Vice President of Business Operations Drew Kice says the CR Series baghouse filters are designed to handle large volumes of air—20,000 to 40,000 cubic feet per minute (cfm). Kice offers four types of CR model baghouse filters—CR188-12, CR236, CR288, and CR344. All four feature welded construction. The CR188-12 model, introduced in 2004, is rated up to 25,000 cfm. Kice notes that all four sizes are 30 feet tall and mounted on a concrete pad next to an elevator or cleaning house. It has a center tube that directs roughly half the air to the center bags. The air is also distributed evenly to the top and bottom of the socks. “The horizontal separator on the air inlet removes a high percentage of the dust load prior to it entering the filter,” Kice explains. Features • Cleaning mechanism is mounted directly on the tube sheet for easy access. • Bags stay cleaner for a longer period of time, reducing overall maintenance expense.
