Do business with integrity and honesty; care about the people I work with—treating them with fairness and respect. Follow up on ideas; do not be afraid to attempt new things. Working hard; expect the most out of those I work with. Biggest management challenge: When Dr. Bill Meyer left our company and I was left to run things, it was tough to make some decisions and learn to get the crew working efficiently as a team. In the end, it has been such a great experience and so rewarding to see our company grow. Most meaningful professional experience: Seeing our products perform well. For example, seeing pictures of a new golf course in Antalya, Turkey with ‘Sea Spray’, a salt tolerant grass looking gorgeous where most things won’t even grow. Also, seeing an employee doing a great job, going above and beyond to make a difference. Best new product: Sea Spray, a seeded seashore paspalum (warm season grass), that loves ocean water after it’s established and can be cut at many different heights. It is probably one of the most eco-friendly grasses we have. Keys to Pure Seed Testing’s success: Using innovative ideas that are often ahead of their time, following through with hard work and determination to get the best product out to the end user and being passionate about what we do. Best ideas for dealing with people: Listen. Listen to what people say. Listen to new ideas. Let others have some responsibility and freedom to have input and do things their way. Most important—work together as a team and communicate. Most meaningful hobbies: Scuba diving and knitting.
