Wind Today - Q4 2008 - (Page 65) News Acquisitions & Agreements — Duke Energy Corp. finalized its $240 million acquisition of the Rutland, VTbased energy company Catamount Energy Corp. on Sept. 15. The Catamount acquisition along with two wind energy projects Duke has under construction in Texas will add appoximately 500 MW to the company’s wind energy portfolio. John Deere Renewables in October acquired the Noble Thumb Windpark in Huron County, MI while phase one of the project was underway. The 46-turbine wind farm which will have a capacity of 69 MW— enough energy to power 20,000 homes—will be completed by the end of the year. MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. in mid-September reached a tentative agreement with Constellation Energy to buy all of the outstanding shares for a cash consideration of about $4.7 billion. MISCOR Group, Ltd. acquired the business and assests of Californiabased Visalia Electric Motor Shop, Inc. in September. National Wind Assessments, Grand Forks, ND, signed an agreement with Composite Tower Solutions, Provo, UT, in October. The exclusive dealership agreement makes Composite the first U.S. dealer of National Wind Assessment’s 80meter composite meteorological tower. Westwood Professional Services, Inc., Eden Prairie, MN, acquired Overland Park, KS-based ETG, Inc. in late September.
