(ASI) in 1985 to serve the rotating machinery industry with a complete line of alignment-related products for shaft and machinery alignment. In 1998, ASI began marketing the Easy-Laser brand of alignment and measurement systems and now serves as the product’s U.S. master distributor. Knitz says Easy-Laser shaft alignment systems are used to reduce wear and tear on couplings, bearings, and seals by enabling technicians to perform precision alignments quickly and easily. Industry Wind Industry Servicing the wind industry, ASI markets Easy-Laser products for use on turbine nacelles, which require precision shaft alignments for preventative maintenance. Knitz says Easy-Laser has been a resource for O&M companies that perform shaft alignment services for many U.S. wind farms. “ASI seeks to equip maintenance technicians, tower manufacturers, O&M Alignment Products service companies, and wind industry technician training programs with highquality, easy-to-use, and affordable laser systems for shaft alignment and tower flange measurement,” says Knitz. According to Knitz, utilizing his company’s shaft alignment and tower flange measurement products will allow wind turbines to last longer and produce more energy, thereby helping avoid the need for downtime, costly crane rentals, and replacement parts. ASI offers U.S. repair and calibration services, and also supplies free software for Easy-Laser systems.
