HALLOFFAME HALL OF FAME Gerald "Jerry" Clor, MBA ■ By Pam Marinko Jerry's passion and dedication to training inspired many in the LTEN community. F or all those who knew Jerry Clor, his name was synonymous with a smile, a good-spirited laugh, a huge heart and an unparalleled understanding of managed care, reimbursement and market access. He was recognized as one of the best trainers in the life sciences field and embodied the best of what our industry stands for: making a difference in patients' lives. rough Jerry's passion for learning, teaching, and paying it forward, he quickly formed many long-lasting and special relationships in and out of our industry - colleagues, bosses, friends and direct reports. If you were fortunate enough to know Jerry, you knew that your relationship with him was very special and one-of-a-kind. Jerry was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in the 366th USAF Dispensary at Da Nang Air Base. His career as a healthcare professional continued with his work on the provider side of the business at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit as the chief of x-ray technology and outpatient services. Jerry transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry aer nine years at Henry Ford Hospital during its evolution into the HMO market. He held multiple positions with three major pharmaceutical companies, beginning as a sales representative in Detroit, working national accounts in the New England corridor, and senior regional accounts in the southwest. Jerry was responsible for the development of the first-ever dedicated managed care training position at Bayer in the 1990s and was involved in managed markets training for more than 15 years. His passion and dedication to training inspired many in the LTEN community and throughout the industry. Jerry was frequently published in both managed care and training and development journals as part of his "pay it Jerry Clor and his wife Cece. forward" philosophy. Jerry was an accomplished, engaging, and colorful facilitator, and over the course of his career trained thousands of life science professionals, including leading multiple workshops at LTEN conferences. In addition, Jerry served as an adjunct faculty member at University of New Haven Graduate School of Management, a guest lecturer at Rutgers University, Graduate School of Business and a guest lecturer at Montclair State University, Graduate School of Business. He welcomed all opportunities to help people understand market access and reimbursement, and his legacy will continue. In October 2015, Jerry passed away aer a short illness. We honor and remember him for his unique and lasting contributions to LTEN and the life science community. Jerry would oen share his commitment and enthusiasm for giving back to LTEN and its members through mentoring others; sharing his market insights and ways he would engage learners. As a 2016 inductee into the LTEN Hall of Fame, we honor Jerry and his life dedicated to teaching and mentoring many of our members and friends. His infectious smile, sharp wit, patience and expertise will be missed. ■ Pam Marinko is CEO of Proficient Learning, LLC.
