Mutoh America Unveils
ValueCut Cutting Plotters
Mutoh America has announced its new line of
ValueCut cutting plotters. The ValueCut roster
comprises three models: ValueCut 600 (30.3-in.
media width, 24-in. cut width); ValueCut 1300
(62.7-in. media width, 52-in. cut width); and ValueCut 1800 (74.8-in. media width, 72-in. cut width).
All three VC models are designed for long-run
cut jobs and precision accuracy, Mutoh reports;
users can simultaneously print and cut. Standard
features include: newly designed sheet-off feature;
roll support system; multi-segment registration;
spare blade; oil-ball point pen; SAi Flexi starter
software; and more. A floor stand and media-catch
basket are standard on the VC 1300 and 1800 models (optional on the 600). Maximum media thickness is 1 mm. Dual-roll support system is optional.

Onyx Adds Support for Windows 8
Onyx Graphics has announced that the latest versions
of its print workflow and RIP software packages now
include support for the Windows 8 operating system.
The support is available in version 1.2.5 of Onyx
Thrive print workflow software and version X10.2.5 of
Onyx ProductionHouse, Onyx PosterShop, and Onyx
RIPCenter RIP software packages.
These new versions also add functionality for
white and specialty ink profi ling, printing, and handling, including: a new Onyx HIVE Image (Hexagonal Ink Verification and Evaluation Swatch) feature
that enables users to simultaneously evaluate many
ink combinations in order to fine-tune print modes
during the profi le-creation process’ Color Management Engine updates for brighter, more vibrant
images when printing with expanded ink gamuts,

Onyx reports; new support for native CMYKO and
CMYKO+SS ink configurations found in the Epson
SureColor SC70600 and SC50600 printers; improvements to Spot Channel Preview in the Layout Tool;
improved user-interface elements for spot channels
and expanded gamut ink usage; and more.
In addition, Onyx has added support for the Roland SolJet Pro4 XR-640 large-format printer/cutter.
The printer driver is available for Onyx Thrive version
1.2 print workflow software and all Onyx RIP version
X10.2 software packages. The driver supports the
Pro4 XR-640’s new Eco-Sol Max 2 inkset, including
light black ink, optional white and metallic silver
inks, and resolutions up to 1440 dpi.
