FESPA 2017: Dare to Print Different
AWARD-WINNING PRINT
More than 20,000 attendees traveled to FESPA 2017 in Hamburg, Germany, May
8-12. With 700 digital print manufacturers from 139 countries exhibiting at the
tradeshow, attendees (10 percent from Asia) needed ample time to walk the halls,
so much that the majority of visitors spent more than two days at the event.
There seems to be no limit with digital print's capabilities today, and the
exhibitors proved that. We saw OEMs producing haptic effects, wraps for
vacuum cleaners, haute couture womenswear, and much more.
The winners of the 2017 FESPA Awards were recognized at
the global expo's Gala Dinner on May 10. PSPs from the UK,
Germany, Switzerland, Russia, and more were honored in
categories ranging from posters and fi ne art reproduction to
T-shirts and ceramic products. This year's People's Choice
Award, chosen by FESPA's online community, went to OMUS
for its Louis Vuitton pop-up store entry (featured in March

Swedish freelance wrapper Jonas Sjöström took the 2017
World Wrap Master title, Martynas Bertulis of Ireland was
awarded second prize, and South Africa's Ruan Greef
received third place. Finalists were chosen by a panel of
judges, including Justin Pate, Ole Solskin, and Kiss Lajos. The
contest included multiple challenges, such as wrapping a
section of a Formula Renault car with helmets and wrapping
the side of a race boat in just 60 minutes.
FESPA 2018 will take place next year
in Berlin, May 15-18.

digital print market that will grow
the most in the next five years," says

"There will be double-digit
growth for digital textiles that are
produced locally, faster, and
cheaper," says Tony Cox, business
