Creatives from around the globe to spark imaginations at Luxe Pack Monaco.

E

very fall, leading decision makers from luxury brands and other pioneering companies converge at Luxe Pack Monaco. In 2011, the event drew more than 6,300 visitors from 62 countries. This year’s three-day event, to be held at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum on the French Riviera from October 24 to 26, will again attract an international audience. These visitors will be able to see innovative packaging ideas from a record number of exhibitors—for the 25th anniversary Luxe Pack will have 360 exhibitors, including 15 percent participating for the first time. Among the new exhibitors are IZT Zamak Injection; Salamander Bonded Leather; Cartones Ondulados Especiales SA (COESA), which offers an inset cardboard as an alternative to foam or other cushioning material; Arelec SA (magnet clo-

sures); Schekolin AG (lacquers and varnishes); Artoria (porcelain limoges boxes and bottles in a unique material); Delta Components (decoration by micro-perforating and trimming); Ningbo Rainbow International (finishing and dressing of glass bottles); Elie Bleu (a toymaker with luxurious wooden boxes) and many others. In addition to the extensive roster of packaging and materials suppliers, Luxe Pack Monaco offers a comprehensive conference program. The program will feature 14 seminars on a variety of topical issues, including the burgeoning luxury market

in Brazil, eco-design and luxury, the new cosmetics regulation, the latest anti-counterfeiting technologies, trends, positioning luxury brands on emerging markets and much more. English designer Mary Lewis, the 2012 Special Guest of Honor, will give the keynote at the conference on October 24 on the theme: “First win the eye... then the heart... then the mind.” Known for her extensive work in the world of luxury design, Lewis is the co-founder and creative director of the Lewis Moberly agency, which works with clients such as Moët & Chandon, Diageo, La Grande Epicerie de Paris, Selfridges, Jaeger, Duchy Originals, Jasper Conran, Hyatt and others. On Thursday, October 25, at 2:30 p.m., American packaging designer Marc Rosen, with a panel of industry leaders, will present “Curb Appeal: Creating Products/Packaging that are Eye Catching for Impulse Purchasing, Online.” The Luxe Pack Trends Observer decodes and analyzes this year’s product launches to identify key packaging trends. The expert panel delving into societal changes and consumer expectations to provide valuable tools are from the fields of packaging, design, color, communication and sociology. The Trends Observer will take place on Friday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m. Perceptions regarding packaging for men’s cosmetics will be examined in a special seminar on October 24, which will highlight the findings of a joint study conducted by 100 students from the European Superior School of Packaging in France and Broby Grafiska, a school in Sweden focusing on packaging and design. An exhibit featuring prototypes designed by the students will also be on display during the show. Other highlights include the Luxe Pack Innovation Forum, which spotlights the newest technologies and developments from exhibitors, and the Luxe Pack in Green award, presented to the exhibitor with the most innovative new sustainable product or technological development.
