(Irvine, CA) manufactures two engravers suited for the sign industry. The EGX-600 is 24 x 16 x 1.57 in., while the slightly smaller EGX-400 measures 16 x 12 x 1.57 in. The engravers are compatible with materials up to 40 mils thick; a 72W, AC-servo motor powers each spindle, which operates at speeds up to 30,000 rpm. The company says this high-speed operation creates higher torque and less vibration for 2-D and 3-D engraving jobs. The engravers don’t need to be connected to a computer, the company reports, and can be used with removable MMC memory cards instead. An optional ADA signmaking kit includes an EGX engraver and engraving-tool set, Braille and profile cutters, CADlink EngraveLab™ Expert software, Rowmark engravable materials, adhesive sheets, an Accent Signage Inc. Both offer various wattage configurations, the company says, and are compatible with wood, acrylic, plastic, fabric and other substrates. The machine works by electrically exciting CO2 gas to create a directed laser beam. The company reports that its engravers have an ethernet port, USB port and wireless capacity for networking. The Helix 24 has a 24 x 18 x 8.5-in. engraving area, while the larger 36EXT has a 36 x 24 x 12-in. engraving area. Both engraving tables can be removed to accommodate thicker substrates (a maximum of 11 in. for the Helix, and 14 in. for the Legend) and are compatible with Windows 7, Vista or XP operating system.
