We wanted the Aria pylon to increase
the hotel’s brand-identity exposure
on The Strip and promote numerous
venues located within the Aria. Plus,
we wanted an iconic arrival statement as guests approach the resort.”

Two signs in one space
The Aria pylon, with its towering
presence, actually serves as two
signs in the same space. Juleen
noted, “Two sets of logo letters
spell out the resort’s name. The
much-larger logo letters, sitting on
top of the sign, are for long-distance
viewing as vehicles approach the
resort; the second, much-smaller
set of channel letters, located
at the pedestrian level, acts as a
welcome portal for people who
pass through the legs of the sign.”
The new Aria pylon was completed in April. Installed against
CityCenter’s background cityscape,
the towering, double-faced, LED
pylon also measures 65 ft. wide,
with thicknesses ranging from 9 ft.,
6 in. at the ends to 16 ft., 9 in. at
the center. Most of the pylon’s
north and south faces utilize a
25mm LED pitch, totaling 21,718
sq. ft. of LED display, with the
remaining 17,000 sq. ft. finished
with a composite-aluminum skin.
For design and fabrication of the
pylon, YESCO served as the general
contractor and worked hand-inhand with MGM Resorts Intl. and
its design and construction team.
Together, explained Juleen, the
groups reviewed the subterranean
infrastructure below and around
the intended pylon location, the
surrounding landscape at ground
level, and also existing, adjacent
building structures in the immediate
vicinity.
Juleen continued, “In terms of
the subterranean construction, we
determined the Aria pylon’s west
footing, which was located next to
CityCenter, had to go through the
top of the garage, then penetrate
the garage’s subterranean level, to
get to where the pylon footing
