The steel LED cabinets were aligned in modular fashion. Three or more cabinets were stacked atop one another to ensure alignment of the electronic boards between cabinets. To accommodate surrounding architectural aesthetics, the cabinets were coated with a charcoal-metallic Alpolic skin to match the surrounding CityCenter complex. Altogether, the nine individual cabinet sections (excluding the lower pole covers) were 65 ft. long by 16 ft., 9 in. wide, by 10 ft. tall. The top cabinet features commercially applied roofing, allows drainage through the sign, and uses davits to allow access to the sign’s exterior for periodic washing. For maintenance, most of the electrical components can be accessed from the inside, with each sign level having 750 sq. ft. of interior floor space. Temperature control for all the pylon LED cabinets is provided by fans and significant forced-air circulation between the cabinets and the pylon. Essentially, as the vertical steel columns kept ascending up the pylon, the LED cabinets were inserted over the columns. The LED displays were set at a 25mm pixel spacing, with each display segment measuring 10 ft. tall by 16 ft. wide. Once each cabinet was fully populated with LEDs, they were then tested and delivered onsite. One by one, the LED cabinets were carefully lowered onto the pylon frame, stacked weddingcake style. Aria channel letters The Aria pylon’s significant height is matched in scale by its huge, closed-faced, backlit channel letters, Photo by YESCO with the hotel’s iconic signature emblazed in Arctic white at the top. Both channel-letter sets (large and small) were mounted on steel cabinets covered with an Alpolic metallic-charcoal aluminum cladding. All the channel letters feature JT LED white modules, and white Lexan® polycarbonate face covers close off the letters. The lower and smaller (8-ft.) set of letters was first installed and tested on an appropriate supporting steel cabinet at the YESCO fabrication area, and then brought onsite and attached to the lower pylon portal entrance. Channeling the pylon’s top The larger channel-letter set (26 ft. tall) was attached to a series of aluminum-clad steel cabinets that comprise the pylon’s top.
