ow important is sustainability
to today's signage purchasers?
As consumers, sustainability is a
concern, and we believe our customers put a high value on this
when it comes to their signage
material purchases. They want
durable, long-lasting, reliable signage,
and Rowmark is proud to offer the
highest-quality materials to meet
their needs. Many of our products
are specifically designed for outdoor
weatherability and vandal-resistance,
thereby extending the life of our
customers' signage installations
and lessening the need for frequent
replacement. At Rowmark, we are
very conscious of waste in our
manufacturing process, recycling
and reclaiming everywhere we can
to eliminate landfilling.
How has the accelerating influx
of electronic media impacted
on-premise signage?
We have all seen an increase in
electronic media - in fact, many
of our end-users offer electronic
signage in addition to on-premise
signage. However, there are some
distinct advantages of tactile signage

over electronic signage. Take for
instance the need for ADA-compliant Braille signage. Rowmark
is the leader in materials for ADA
signage production, offering a wide
array of compliant products, and
UV-LED printing has made tactile
signage easy to produce and costeffective. Additionally, electronic
signage cannot compete with the
graphical detail and complexity
that laser and rotary engraving and
UV-LED printing can.
How do restrictive sign codes impact
end users' sign choices?
With Rowmark's industry-leading
and ever-growing array of products,
we believe our customers will
always be able to find just the right
materials for their signage needs
while still staying in compliance
with regulatory requirements.
What trends in signage and graphics
will be most disruptive in the future?
The reduction in equipment costs
will lower the point-of-entry to the
market. That will allow some who
currently don't do signage to get
into the industry with a smaller
initial investment.
What types of signage choices are
becoming more popular today?
Highly customizable signage is
on trend. Rowmark recently introduced Message Board, a versatile
sheet material that comes in chalkboard and dry-erase finishes. This

material can be easily cut into
custom shapes with a laser/rotary
engraver or router, permanently
screen printed, hot stamped or
UV-LED printed. Messages written
in chalk and standard dry-erase
markers go on smoothly and wipe
off easily. This material is ideal for
name tags, message boards, menus
and many other applications, and
it is also ideal for craft and artistry
projects. It is UV-stable and outdoor
weatherable, so it can be used for
both interior and exterior signage.
Color Tuff EXT is another new
product that we're very excited
about. Available through Johnson
Plastics Plus, part of the Rowmark
Family of Companies, ColorTuff
EXT is a gloss white exterior
grade aluminum sublimatable
substrate that is extremely durable,
UV stable, chemical and graffiti
resistant, and guaranteed for
five years!
What are your predictions for the
industry in 2018?
We expect steady growth in 2018
as we continue to introduce new
products. We believe that feedback
is a gift, and listen to our customers'
needs. We are constantly exploring
new materials and products to
answer and even anticipate these
needs. Rowmark is constantly
innovating and has an entire lineup of exciting new products to
introduce throughout 2018, including advancements in plastics sheet
technology and trending colors.
