A d v e r t i s e m e n t AbbAS DEVjI President From your perspective, what’s been the biggest change over the last year in how retailers are designing their stores? One of the big trends in design right now, especially in the technology sector, is clean, open spaces. Apple started the minimal space design a few years ago and many companies are following suit. Most recently, Microsoft introduced its new store design, which features an open floor plan with bright color-blocked graphics. Sony’s new store design has a similar look and feel. Today’s store experience is simpler and the overall message is more clearly understood, and I think customers appreciate that. As retail building activity picks up, how is your relationship with clients evolving? We’ve been fortunate over the last few years to be a growing company, with our biggest growth to date happening this year. We’ve added new machinery, hired additional staff and expanded our facility. I believe our growth and our success benefits our clients directly…we’re evolving together. When you look to the coming year of retail design, what excites you the most? I’m excited to be a part of the creative process and to be an innovator in the retail design industry. I look forward to bringing creative solutions to new challenges and to seeing some of our new ideas come to fruition. I guess I’m most excited to see what the next big thing will be. What's the one thing you want clients to know in order to build a successful working relationship with their vendors? I find that it’s extremely helpful for clients to understand everything that goes into the production of the displays we create and to be as involved in the process as possible. Often times we’ll invite clients out to our facility so they can see firsthand how their displays are being built and what machines we’re using, etc. It adds a beneficial perspective for both client and vendor. What products and services are you seeing a demand for in 2013? Modular displays will be big in 2013. The ability of the retailer to display their product on a system that can change and evolve is always appealing and cost effective. Currently, we’re working on a new magnetic modular display system that we’ll launch at Global Shop. We’re very excited about it.
