Purr-fect Design
Puma’s redesigned SoHo store embraces its New York
location with cast iron detailing, neon signage and
vibrant graphics. But it’s the dressing rooms that really
add an urban vibe by transporting shoppers to the New
York subway.
Designers at Colkitt & Co. (New York) worked with
Imagine Tile (New York) on the project, which includes
solid white subway tiles, some randomly printed with
a 3-by-6-inch Puma Cat logo for a subtle brand reference. On the back wall, mosaic murals were recreated
to depict Houston Street and Broadway subway stops;
on the floor, Imagine Tile’s Asphalt and Manhole Cover
patterns further complete the scene.
The idea, says Nathan Colkitt, principal and ceo, is
to encapsulate the brand in a way that’s quintessentially
New York. “It’s so holistic and allows you to immerse
