AACN Canadian Dynamics 2012: ‘Speak Up, Speak Out’ Whether you’re north or south of the 49th parallel, Dynamics, the annual national convention and product exhibition of the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN), Sept. 23-25, in Vancouver, B.C., offers a forum to share ideas, network and design a personal agenda to meet your learning needs. “Speak Up, Speak Out,” this year’s conference theme, recognizes that everyday critical care nursing practice requires leadership to provide excellent care, and support healthy work environments and healthy nurses. Dynamics 2012 is where you can lead from where you stand and give voice to your convictions. As an invited speaker, Mary Stahl, AACN immediate past president, will present a Sept. 23-25 in plenary session titled “Creating Dynamic Teams: The Power of Working Together, Stronger, Bolder” and join her CACCN counterpart, Kate Mahon, for a joint plenary session titled Vancouver, B.C. “Leading With Conviction.” Nurses from coast to coast will gather at Dynamics 2012 to experience new perspectives, refocus and acquire new learning. Varied content allows you to choose from an array of evidence-based topics such as clinical practice, leadership, education and research in the critical care of adults and children. Sponsored speakers familiar to American critical care nursing audiences include Jan Headley and Kathleen Vollman. Headley will speak about pulse pressure variation and stroke volume variation as better predictors of preload responsiveness. During her session, Vollman will challenge her fellow nurses to assume ownership and advocate for the implementation of basic nursing care activities that have sufficient evidence to impact patient outcomes. Vancouver is easy to reach by air from American and Canadian cities. By land, it’s less than three hours from Seattle. Visit for more information and a complete conference brochure.
