The title of his poster was An Identity Crisis: Differentiating the Gay Man’s Experience of Proactive Prostate Cancer Treatments. On May 21, Mitch Tepper (Atlanta, Ga.), Chris Thrasher (Atlanta, Ga.), Carey Bayer (Powder Springs, Ga.), and Sharon Rachel (Atlanta, Ga.) from the Center for Excellence in Sexual Health (CESH) at Morehouse School of Medicine pulled together an invitation-only conference: Wounded Troops and Partners: Supporting Intimate Relationships, to raise awareness about the sexual health needs and concerns of wounded warriors and their partners. Two former Surgeons General spoke at the meeting: David Satcher (Atlanta, Ga.) and Richard Carmona. Former Senator Bob Dole (R-Kan.) and Margaret Giannini, Director of the DHHS Office on Disability, spoke as well, as did Linda Mona (Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca.) and Kelly Ace (Wilmington, Del.). Steve Conley and Ginger Bush (Boca Raton, Fla.), AASECT president elect, attended the conference as representatives of AASECT. Patti Hard (Lexington, Ky.), the Kentucky State Leader, gave a presentation to the Bluegrass Healthy Marriage Initiative on Physical Intimacy in Marriage. Sherry Steinbock (Louisville, Ky.) presented at the Annual Conference of the Kentucky Association of Marriage and Family Therapy on The Joy of Working with Transgenders. Susan Lee (Palm Beach, Fla.), AASECT approved provider of CEs, traveled to Hong Kong, China, on April 1 and provided a training program with Matthew Yau (Hong Kong, China), Angela Ng (Hong Kong, China), and others to 30 participants. The program was developed in conjunction with the Hong Kong Association of Sexuality Educators, Researchers & Therapists and the Florida Postgraduate Sex Therapy Training Institute. The participants were awarded 120 AASECT CEs, and they plan to work toward their AASECT sex therapist certification. Jean Koehler (Louisville, Ky.), AASECT Past President, was awarded a Distinguished Service Award to Marriage and Family Therapy in the Leadership Arena on April 18 by the Kentucky Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. On May 18, the Baltimore / Washington, D.C. AASECT Forum met at Kate Thomas’ place (Baltimore, Md.) for a free, three hour presentation on Contemporary Perspectives on Sexual Paraphilias. The speakers were Kate Thomas, Fred Berlin, and Hani Miletski. The event was organized by Chris Kraft (Baltimore, Md.), and the participants were awarded three AASECT CEs. The Massachusetts Psychological Association invited Aline Zoldbrod (Lexington, Mass.) to present a three hour workshop, this spring, based on her book SexSmart: How Your Childhood Shaped Your Sexual Life and What to Do About It. Her book was featured as one of 17 books in an article entitled Recommended Reading: Psychologists Share the Contents of Their Self Help Shelves in the January, 2008 APA Monitor on Psychology. In addition, Zoldbrod spoke on Sex in the Sixties for her Oberlin College 40th Class Cluster reunion, this May, in Oberlin Ohio. The AASECT Board of Directors approved Talli Rosenbaum (Bet Shemesh, Israel) as the next Chair of the International Outreach Committee. She is currently the Chair of the Sexuality Counselor Certification Committee. The Board also approved Amy and Charles Miron (Baltimore, Md.) as the next co-chairs of the Development Committee. The Mirons are also the AASECT Section Leaders for Maryland and Washington, DC.
