Satterly is the chair of the Mentorship Committee, Dyson is the incoming chair of the Professional Education Steering Committee (PESC), a board position, and both were the recipients of the AASECT Schiller Prize for the best workshop proposal at this year’s conference. The AASECT Board of Directors approved the following positions on the Certification Steering Committee, chaired by Peggy Kleinplatz (Ottowa, Ontario, Canada): Patti Groessl (Muskegon, Mich.) will be the new chair of the Sex Therapy Certification Committee. Dan Watter (Parsippany, N.J.) will continue to be the chair of the Diplomate Certification Committee. Talli Rosenbaum (Bet Shemesh, Israel) will continue to be the chair of the Sexuality Counselor Certification Committee (and she is also the incoming chair of the International Outreach Committee). Gretchen Fincke (West Band, Wisc.) will continue to be chair of the Supervision Certification Committee (as well as the MidContinent Region Representative). Cory Silverberg (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) will be the new chair of the Sexuality Education Certification Committee. And, Bill Finger (Asheville, N.C.), our new president elect, will be the new chair of the Special Status Certification Committee (formally known as the Low-Doc Committee). Justin Sitron (Philadelphia, Pa.) recently earned an EdD degree in human sexuality from Weidner University and is the newest full-time faculty member at that institution. Sara Nasserzadeh (London, England) will join Weidner’s faculty in September. Gina Ogden (Cambridge, Mass.) has published The Return of Desire, a follow-up to the Heart and Soul of Sex, giving the practical applications for clinicians and clients. Thomas Wood (Wilmington, Del.), recipient of the Student Poster Award at the AASECT conference in New Orleans, was recently awarded a master’s degree in education in human sexuality. He will join the Institute for Sex Therapy in Philadelphia as a staff sex therapist in September. Joe Kort (Royal Oak, Mich.) was invited to speak on National Public Radio about gay relationships. He appeared on the show On Point with Tom Ashbrook. Kort is the author of 10 Smart Things Gay Men Can Do To Improve Their Lives. Robert Dunlap (Beverly Hills, Calif.), the AASECT out-going Media Committee co-chair and award-winning filmmaker, had his documentary Xaviera Hollander, “The Happy Hooker”: Portrait of a Sexual Revolutionary premiered at the inaugural Philadelphia Independent Film Festival on June 27. The documentary is about one of the world’s most important sexual icons. The film explores Xaviera’s rise and fall, her deportation from the United States and Canada, and her political significance to the feminist movement. Marco Meneses (West Palm Beach, Fla.), an AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator, was recently certified as a Certified Family Educator by the National Council on Family Relations, and as a Certified Health Educator Specialist by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Meneses works for Planned Parenthood of Greater Miami and Palm Beach as community educator.
