Contemporary Sexuality - September 2008 - (Page 2) From the Executive Director ASECT’s Directory of Members 2008 is now available online and updated every month. In keeping with our attempts to keep AASECT green, our first new directory of members can be found online through the Members Only area in PDF format (you must have free Adobe Acrobat software to access the file). To access the directory, any member may visit the Members Only area of the AASECT website, if they have previously registered and established a user name and password. If you have not taken advantage of this member benefit, take a few moments to register and soon you will have access to the entire list of members‚ addresses, emails and telephone numbers. • The directory will update each month and all we ask of members is that they do not share or in any way distribute our list outside the AASECT family. Your membership guild association at times sells our mailing list and this provides a small revenue stream to help support the organization. Please consider this data as a valuable member benefit only and help us to protect the uniqueness of our extended family. • We also need our members to keep their phone numbers, emails and addresses up to date. As we provide this new electronic monthly member benefit, the value is only as good as the data members provide us for the AASECT database. • Certified members may or may not be aware that they can also use our Members Only area to post a personal referral listing on the AASECT referral maps for each state, province and country. Once you have registered, if you are AASECT-certified, you can list yourself for referrals on the AASECT website. Simply log in and complete the forms. It takes us 24 hours to verify your personal data, and then anyone who visits our website can find you and your city for potential educational, counselling or therapeutic services. • Some certified members have told us that only four referrals a year cover all AASECT member and certification fees including the annual conference. This means our referral service alone makes the AASECT benefits a “financial wash” for them. They gain much more professionally and financially for being a certified member than the cost of membership for this remarkable professional sexuality certifying organization.
