Michaels (Yorktown Hts., N.Y.) and Patricia Johnson (Yorktown Hts., N.Y.), has been named a USA Book News National Best Books 2008 Award Winner in the Health: Sexuality category and is an award-winning finalist in the Religion: Eastern Religions category. USA Book News Magazine is the premiere online magazine and review website providing coverage for books from mainstream and independent publishers to the world online community. 2008 has been an eventful year for Sandra Samons (Ann Arbor, Mich.), some things good and some not. Sadly, her husband of many years died of Parkinson’s disease. But the book she has been working on for several years, When The Opposite Sex Isn’t — Sexual Orientation In Male-To-Female Transgender People, was finally published (by Routledge), and she now has a new website: www.sandra samons.com. The AASECT Board of Directors approved the following individuals as members of the AASECT Continuing Education Review Committee: Joan Sughrue (Woodstock, Ga.) as its chair, George Turner (Kansas City, Mo.), Richelle Frabotta (Clarksville, Ohio), Michael Krychman (Newport Beach, Calif.), Jennifer Fariello (Philadelphia, Pa.) contingent upon her certification, and Kathleen Baldwin (Indianapolis, Ind.). Baldwin was also approved to be the chair of the AASECT Institutes Committee. Both committees are part of the Professional Education Steering Committee (PESC), chaired by board member Don Dyson (Westmont, N.J.). Joan Sughrue (Woodstock, Ga.) was also approved by the board as chair of the Awards Committee. Bill Finger (Mountain Home, Tenn.), our president elect, was approved by the AASECT board as chair of the Bylaws Committee and as a member of the PESC. Dennis Sugrue (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), past president of AASECT, was approved as chair of the Personnel Committee. And Bob Woody (Omaha, Neb.) became a member of the Sex Therapy Certification Committee. The AASECT Board of Directors approved the following individuals to be added as members of the AASECT Mentor Committee: Denise Stapley (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Patti Hard (Lexington, Ky.), Carol Sasse (Rapid City, S.D.), Ann Mayes (Greeneville, Tenn.), Alice Christianson (Fargo, N.D.), Terry Couwenhoven (Port Washington, Wisc.), Charles and Amy J Miron (Baltimore, Md.), Rachel Needle (West Plam Beach, Fla.), and Judith Seifer (Lewisburg, W.V.). The Mentor Committee is chaired by Brent Satterly (Westmont, N.J.). Serena McKenzie (Seattle, Wash.) was certified as an AASECT sexuality counselor. Mary Jo Podgurski (Washington, Pa.) was certified as a sexuality educator.
