Contemporary Sexuality - February 2009 - (Page 2) From the Executive Director hanks to Sallie Foley and Barry McCarthy for leading our hugely successful 2009 Winter Institute in Deerfield Beach, Fla. last month. Thirty-nine members attended and participated and the evaluations of the weekend are superb. We appreciate our senior therapists, McCarthy and Foley, and all those who joined them in this training. The participants really contributed to the flavor and richness of this event, covering (in part) sex therapy failures, non-traditional relationships, sex after affairs, and personal and professional values in sex therapy. • Now is the time to begin planning to attend the 2009 AASECT Summer Institute in Richmond, Virginia. This biannual training is set for August 9–14 at the beautiful Roslyn Episcopal Retreat Center (roslyncenter.org/index.shtml) Watch for our advertisement next month in Contemporary Sexuality. • AOL subscribers and the AASECT listserv: Some of you may be aware that the AASECT listserv is often threatened by unwitting actions by some of our listserv participants who are AOL subscribers. We frequently have time periods in which a member has inadvertently labeled a message from the listserv as SPAM. When this happens we have no recourse but to remove the member from the listserv. AOL does not work with us to investigate the problem and they can actually damage the entire business of our Internet service provider. If you use AOL, please be careful. Contact me for more information at DrSConley@aasect.org • Clinical insert articles needed: You may have noticed the absence of clinical CE articles in Contemporary Sexuality recently. We need contributions from our members to fill this void. Many members take advantage of this unique method of continuing education and professional growth. If you have a topic of interest, please contact Annette Owens, Contemporary Sexuality Editor-in-Chief, at info@cvillewell ness.com. We need your written contributions for publication in your association’s newsletter. • While it is too late for proposals for Phoenix 2009, there remains time to help your membership guild association to find Exhibitors/Sponsors for our 41st anniversary conference. Contact Exhibits Chair Tammy Bednar for more information at exhibitors2009@gmail.com or visit the AASECT website for the Call for Exhibitors. The 2009 registration form is now posted on the AASECT website. Please plan to register early for our next amazing AASECT conference, this time designed by Don Dyson and Brent Satterly, Some Like It Hot: The Cutting Edge in Sex Education, Counseling, Therapy & Medicine! For more information, visit www.aasect.org/annualcon.asp and join us May 13-17 in Phoenix/Glendale, Arizona. continued on page 6 T sexuality AASECT Executive Director Founder AASECT Board of Directors President President Elect Secretary Treasurer Membership Steering Chair Certification Steering Chair Outreach Steering Chair Professional Education Steering Committee Chair Public Relations, Media & Advocacy Steering Committee Communications Steering Chair Stephen Conley, PhD Patricia Schiller, MA, JD Helen “Ginger” Bush, MSW William W.
