Contemporary Sexuality - April 2009 - (Page 12) News of Members T Esther Perel (New York, N.Y.) was the winner of the 2009 SSTAR Consumer Book Award for her book Mating in Captivity: Reconciling the Erotic and the Domestic. he AASECT Board of Directors approved Andy Walters (Flagstaff, Ariz.) as chair of the Ethics Committee. The Board also approved Sandra Cole (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Jim Huggins (Pittsburgh, Pa.), and Jo Marie Kessler (Carlsbad, Calif.) as members of the Personnel Committee. The committee is chaired by Dennis Sugrue (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.). Jose Pando (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was approved by the Board as the International Region Representative, and as a member of the Membership Services Steering Committee (MSSC). Pando is replacing David Ribner (Jerusalem, Israel) who resigned from this position in order to concentrate more fully on local AASECT activities. Darcy Donahue (Litchfield, N.H.) was certified as a sexuality counselor. Brandy Reeves (Loveland, Ohio), Debra Herbenick (Bloomington, Ind.), and Betsy Cairo (Loveland, Colo.) were certified as sexuality educators. The following members were certified as sex therapists: Patricia Moore (Arlington, Mass.), Kathleen Zellers (Henderson Nev.), Janette Louise Strokappe (Lacombe, Alberta, Canada), John Beither (Mt. Washington, Pa.), Andrew Mercurio (Hawthorne, N.J.), and Lauren Jordan (Dallas, Tex.). Congratulations to you all. Barry McCarthy (Washington, D.C.) and his wife, Emily, recently co-authored another book: Discovering Your Couple Sexual Style; Sharing Desire, Pleasure, and Satisfaction, based on three years of research and treating more than 4,000 individuals and couples. The book was published by Routledge.
