One day, they both offered sacrifice to God, Cain from the fruit of the land and Abel from the best sheep of his flock. Cain noticed that Abel’s sacrifices were accepted more than his and he became jealous. One day he said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out in the fields.” There Cain attacked Abel and killed him. Then he heard God’s voice asking, “Where is your brother, Abel?” and Cain replied, “How should I know? Am I my brother’s keeper?” But God spoke again, 23
