Session I · The 2013 Annual meeting of the
American business women's Association was
called to order by President Tina Ackles in
the statehouse Convention Center, Thursday,
october 3, 2013 at 8:38 a.m. President Ackles
announced that Lynn Drowne, past national
president, would serve as rules advisor
and Pattie Vargas, past national secretarytreasurer, would serve as sergeant at Arms.
President Ackles declared that the reading
of the minutes for the 2012 Annual meeting
would be waived since they were approved
by the 2012 Publishing Committee and
were posted in the winter issue of Women
In Business. President Ackles announced
that Dawn Lunt, eight Flags Charter Chapter,
Fernandina beach, Fla., would serve as chair
of the Publishing Committee for the annual
meeting minutes. susan olson (Houston
Area Professional express network, sugar
Land, Texas) and Cheryl scott (mo-Kan
Chapter, olathe, Kan.) were to serve as
other members of that committee. national
secretary-Treasurer myChelle Andrews
reviewed the sbmeF Treasurer's report and
the Abw Foundation financial report.
The national nominating Committee
report was presented by Chair mary Large,
soaring eagles Chapter, escondido, Calif.
she introduced the other members of the
2013 national nominating Committee:
Karen williams (D.C. Charter Chapter,
Tacoma Park, md.) and Holly Hengstebeck
(novi oaks Chapter, northville, mich.).
she also announced each candidate
running for national office. President, Tina
Ackles, introduced the candidates. The
candidates for president, vice president and
secretary-treasurer gave their three minute
presentations on the following topic:
"What has been your unique
contribution during your time on the
National Board of Directors? What
lessons have you learned that you
will apply next year if elected?"

President Ackles explained the voting
instructions. President Ackles stated that,
in accordance with the AbwA national
bylaws, if any one candidate did not receive
a majority vote, a run-off election would be
held between the two candidates receiving
the highest number of votes. President
Ackles stated that the annual meeting would
be recessed until Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.
The Annual meeting ended at 9:33 a.m.
Session II · President Ackles called the
meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. President
Ackles introduced Credentials Committee
Co-Chairs, Lara neidel and Anne Pasquini.
Chairs neidel and Pasquini announced
all newly elected officers will be installed
immediately following this report and
then reported the results of the balloting.
President Ackles declared that the following
national officers had been elected:

President Ackles installed the new 2013-2014
national board of Directors. René street,
executive Director, presented the outgoing
officers with their pins. President-elect Lorie
burch recessed the meeting at 6:35 p.m.
