Rotolight HSS transmitter, which has been
optimized for Rotolight by Elinchrom. It is
available on launch for Canon, Nikon, Sony,
Olympus, Panasonic and, shortly, Fuji
camera systems, and is compatible with all
other Elinchrom Skyport devices.
Featuring electronically adjustable
color temperature in both flash and continuous modes, with a built-in Kelvin display,
the Neo 2 enables photographers to easily
adjust white balance or match ambient light
settings to create more natural-looking
shots. The lightweight and portable Neo 2
can be mounted both on or off camera, and
it provides 85,000 full-power flashes on a
single set of rechargeable AA batteries.
The fixture also boasts a range of
features for video users, including an
updated suite of CineSFX effects, Designer
Fade mode for custom in-camera fade
effects, and AccuColor LED technology for
accurate rendering of skin tones.
Rotolight's Neo 2 is available as a
single light - including a belt pouch, accessory shoe, power supply and four-piece filter
pack with diffusion, skin tone and magenta
filters - or as a three-light kit with hard
flight case, stands and ball heads. Optional

Matthews Moves C-Stands
Burbank, Calif.-based Matthews
Studio Equipment has introduced the
KitBags line of grip and lighting equipment
bags, the first of which are designed for
transporting C-stands.
"The ability to quickly pack and
transport a few C-stands has become a
necessity," says Tyler Phillips, executive vice
president for MSE. "In the past, bags
designed for this purpose have been very

false color and waveform exposure tools to
make them much more customizable.
"We've added the capability to create up to
10 customizable IRE ranges and assign
specific colors to the ranges," notes
SmallHD CEO Wes Phillips. "It allows the
user to choose what's important in the
exposure, and identify problem areas faster
than ever."
OS3 also adds spot metering to the
customizable waveform view. The spot
meter indicates the exposure level to a
limited and lacked the robustness and
features required."
Designed to transport several stands
easily, MSE's KitBags feature ballistic nylon,
heavy-duty easy-glide zippers, grip handles,
internal dividers, and padded red interiors to
ensure performance and reliability. The
KitBags are available in a rolling style, with
high-density wheels, or a shoulder style.
"The rolling bag has additional space for
lighting stands or grip gear, and an external
zipper pocket for the Matthews RoadFlags II

SmallHD Updates OS
SmallHD has announced the release
of OS3, a free operating-system upgrade for
the company's family of on-camera and
production monitors. OS3 offers new falsecolor and waveform tools, a new battery
meter, computer-free integration of the
SmallHD Color Probe, and more.
Placed in front of any current
SmallHD monitor, the Color Probe reads the
test output on the screen to check and
correct the monitor's calibration. The Color
Probe's USB cable plugs directly into the
monitor's USB jack, and calibration is
achieved in a few minutes.
The new operating system also
showcases SmallHD's focus on updating its

particular area of an image without the
psychedelic appearance that false color can
create. It can be particularly useful for
setting the exposure on subjects' faces.
OS3 features a new image gallery,
which provides the ability to quickly access
and organize screen captures and other
images on an SD card by showing a thumbnail preview of each image file. Images can
now be previewed with or without a video
signal.
Additionally, a significant upgrade to
the battery meter adds the ability to read
Sony NPF L-series batteries. Plus, the battery
meter has been made more intuitive with a
readout of the percentage of charge that
remains and the inclusion of a warning
signal when the remaining power gets to be
critically low.
The OS3 upgrade and the SmallHD
Color Probe are engineered to work with
SmallHD's 500, 700, UltraBright and
Focus series on-camera monitors, as well as
the 1300, 1700, 2400 and 3200 Series
production monitors. The OS3 firmware
