Bailey is undeniably proud to
receive
the
ASC's
Lifetime
Achievement Award, and he was
delighted when Society President
Richard Crudo informed him of the
honor. "It is especially meaningful
coming from my peers," he says. "I'm
happy that it reflects my whole body of
work so far, and I'd like to believe it is
also a recognition for work I've done for
the organization, and my writing and
teaching."
But the 72-year-old director of
photography adds that he doesn't want
anyone to think that the award means
he's done shooting. Nothing could be
further from the truth, he stresses. "I've
got two mainstream films that are being
finished right now," he says. One of
them, A Walk in the Woods, reunites him
with Robert Redford, who this time out
serves as actor and producer.
"I'm still working," Bailey attests,
"and I have no intention of stopping!"
