Safety App
The International Cinematographers
Guild, IATSE Local 600, has launched ICG
Safety, a safety app available for download
from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
The app provides a
comprehensive
safety reference,
giving users a list of
safety bulletins; indepth articles about
safety; and anonymous safety hotline
numbers, including
Local 600's 24/7 tip
line. The app will also
be regularly updated
with the latest information.
"The app includes the employers'
obligation to provide a safe workplace and
the members' right to refuse work that
presents an imminent hazard," says Bruce
Doering, ICG's executive director. "The app
also contains what you do when you have
an unsafe situation, and who should be
notified."

VES Updates Handbook
The Visual Effects Society has
released the 2nd edition of The VES Handbook of Visual Effects. The guide to visualeffects techniques and best practices covers
essential solutions for all visual-effects
artists, producers and supervisors, from
preproduction through production and
post.
Co-edited by VES chair and ASC
associate Jeffrey A. Okun and visual-effects
producer Susan Zwerman, the updated
guide includes the latest industry-standard
techniques, technologies and workflows of
the fast-paced world of visual effects. The
VES tasked the book's original authors to
update their areas of expertise - which
include stereoscopic moviemaking, color

Multi-View
