Lonsdale has notched credits on such series as Bones, Northern Exposure, Space: Above and Beyond and The Magnificent Seven; the miniseries The Last Don (1997); and the telefilm High School Musical (2006). Chicago Welcomes Zsigmond, Chressanthis In early March, Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC and James Chressanthis, ASC traveled to the Windy City for a weekend of events centered on a gala screening of No Subtitles Necessary: Laszlo and Vilmos. Both cinematographers participated in “A Celebration of Lonsdale Joins Club Growing up in Southern California, new ASC member Gordon C. Lonsdale spent his Saturdays watching double features and nurturing a growing passion for motion pictures. His first hands-on experience with photography came in ninth grade, when he received an Argus Rangefinder camera, and he followed his passion for art to Brigham Young University, where he earned a degree in communications with an emphasis in photography. Lonsdale worked at the university’s motion-picture and television studio, and by the time he graduated, he had compiled enough of a reel to earn a place on ASC member Reed Smoot’s camera crew, on which he spent the next eight years working on features, Imax films, telefilms and documentaries. Lonsdale returned to BYU to serve as the resident cinematographer, and during his tenure, he traveled the globe and shot a range of projects. While living in Utah, Lonsdale began shooting telefilms, including A More Perfect Union and It Nearly Wasn’t Christmas (both 1989). On the latter, Lonsdale worked with director Burt Brinkerhoff, with whom he reteamed for Girl of the Limberlost (1990) and The Case of the Silk King (1992), which was shot in Thailand with a local crew.
