Scenes set at Scully’s hospital, another location, were also shot night-for-day. “In Scully’s office, we blew out the windows with HMIs,” says Roe, “and because we wanted the hospital scenes to feel a little different, we gelled the HMIs with 1⁄2 CTO to warm them up slightly, then used a mix of small tungsten practicals inside and shot with an 81EF on the lens.” A bathroom at the hospital is the site of a long dialogue scene between Scully and Mulder. “It was one of those times where you wish you could pull walls,” says Roe. “We couldn’t dolly much, so we had to stage it the right way.
