ACEC/PAC—the American Council of Engineering Companies Political Action Committee is the engineering industry’s preeminent political action committee. The sole purpose of ACEC/PAC is to elect candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate who support policies and legislation favorable to the engineering industry. upport for ACEC/PAC is up in 2007 as more ACEC members are realizing the value of the Council’s political program. To date, ACEC/PAC has raised $321,859, compared to $258,385 at this point in 2006. This year, ACEC also has hosted a number of engineering industry events in Washington to support key industry leaders in Congress. “While the political winds in Washington shift from time to time, the one constant is the need for a very robust and aggressive political program,” said ACEC President Dave Raymond. “The continued growth of ACEC/PAC is a good indication that our members understand this fact and are willing to step up.” H Met 2007 state goal The Chairman’s Club mobilizes ACEC’s most politically active PAC contributors. Chairman’s Club members agree to pledge a minimum of $2,500 per year to support key House and Senate members (of which at least $1,000 is given to ACEC/PAC and the balance is available for direct contributions to candidates at ACEC/PAC-sponsored events). The Millennium Club members donate $1,000 per year to ACEC/PAC to support key House and Senate members. State Goals—the PAC Champions have assigned each ACEC state organization an annual fundraising goal based on its membership strength.
