Making those connections earlier is important, said John Brooks Slaughter, president and chief executive officer of NACME, especially considering the changing nature of the global economy. “We are producing far too few engineers in order for America to sustain itself,” noted Slaughter. The problem is especially acute considering the low number of women and minorities who work in the field, he said, adding, “We will never be able to turn the corner unless we recognize these underrepresented groups.” One Road.
