2013 Congress on Healthcare Leadership - (Page 2)

How To Use This Brochure The Congress on Healthcare Leadership is ACHE’s largest annual event, with more than 100 seminars, numerous career development programs and unparalleled networking opportunities. Follow these six easy steps to plan your schedule and maximize your Congress experience. Please note that all seminars will be held at the Hilton Chicago unless otherwise indicated. Step 1: Decide if you will attend a pre-Congress activity. ACHE offers two highly-rated educational seminars on the Saturday and Sunday before Congress. These two-day seminars allow you to earn an additional 12 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face Education credit and get more value for your time and travel dollar. Alternatively, we offer six preCongress Boot Camps in the following special interest areas: Baldrige, CEO, COO, Middle Manager, New Healthcare Leader and Physician Executive. Boot Camps are intensive, interactive one-day programs offered on the Sunday before Congress; they are approved for 7 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits. For more information on these preCongress activities, see pages 10–12. Step 2: Select the seminars that interest you (9 ACHE Faceto-Face Education credits included). Complete descriptions for the seminars offered at Congress can be found on pages 19–45. When selecting seminars, keep in mind that A and B offerings are repeat 1.5-hour presentations of the same seminar and are accredited for 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits each. Seminars with an X designation are 1.5-hour seminars that are not repeated and are worth 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits each. Numbered seminars with no letter are three-hour seminars that are not repeated and are worth 3 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits each. The basic registration fee allows you to register for numbered seminars with a combined worth of 9 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits. Admission to additional educational seminars may also be purchased. To help you avoid time conflicts, you may want to consult the schedule of events on pages 8–9 and the registration checklist on pages 63–67 or register online. Student Associates may register for Student Track seminars held Monday and Tuesday (pages 46–47) and/or numbered seminars on Wednesday and Thursday (pages 35–45). Step 3: Choose the general sessions you want to attend (3 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits included). General Sessions at Congress (pages 13–14) include the Opening Session on Monday and Hot Topic Sessions offered Tuesday through Thursday. Each General Session is worth 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits. As part of your registration fee, you may choose the Opening Session and one Hot Topic Session or two Hot Topic Sessions. Step 4: Select a luncheon and a reception. The basic Congress registration fee includes one luncheon (pages 15–16) and either the Monday or Wednesday Congress reception (page 49). You may also purchase additional tickets for these events on-site, as space permits. The Student Associate registration fee is $495 including a luncheon, or Student Associates may attend the Student Track without a luncheon for only $415. Step 5: Decide which career development opportunities you would like to attend. Healthcare Executive Career Resource Center programs are offered throughout the week of Congress. Career development programs include complimentary activities such as the Resume Review Service, Career Counseling Service and Employment Referral Service as well as leadership skills assessments that can be purchased in addition to your Congress registration fee. For more information on career development programs, see pages 54–57. Step 6: Plan to take advantage of the valuable complimentary services available to you. Attend the Management Innovations Poster Session (see page 53), networking opportunities, membership information sessions and more. Registration Fee The basic registration fee for Congress is $1,195 for ACHE members and $1,395 for nonmembers. The Congress Express registration fee is $850 for members and $1,050 for nonmembers (for more information on Congress Express, see page 4).
