2018 Congress on Healthcare Leadership - 18

High-Reliability Healthcare Boot Camp Sunday, March 25
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.)

M. Michael Shabot, MD Executive Vice President/System Chief
Clinical Officer, Memorial Hermann Health System
Mark R. Chassin, MD President, The Joint Commission
Gary R. Yates, MD Partner, Press Ganey Strategic Consulting
Learning Objectives:
* Identify the leadership prerequisites for developing and
sustaining a high-reliability culture and practice in a healthcare
organization.
* Describe the three major changes healthcare organizations
must undertake to begin the journey to high reliability.

Although high reliability is clearly possible in complex industries,
the question remains how to achieve it in healthcare. This
program will teach the organizational requirements for starting
on a high-reliability journey and the tools to achieve it over time.
The critical importance of leadership commitment at the board
and CEO levels to achieving the ultimate goal of zero harm will
be discussed, including the new report from ACHE and the
Institute for Healthcare Improvement/National Patient Safety
Foundation Lucian Leape Institute, Leading a Culture of Safety, A
Blueprint for Success. The session will illustrate how the adoption
of robust process improvement can provide an organization with
a positive ROI while enabling substantial improvements in
quality of care. The price for attending this session is $995 for
members and $1,195 for nonmembers.

Physician Executive Boot Camp Sunday, March 25
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.)

Matthew J. Lambert III, MD, FACHE Senior Vice President,
Kaufman Hall
Learning Objectives:
* Discuss the challenges in moving from a clinician to a physician leader and the skills needed in building relationships with
the medical staff, executive team and board members.
* Identify career pathways for physicians who want to pursue
healthcare leadership roles, and the skills and knowledge
needed to be a more effective leader.

The Physician Executive Boot Camp introduces physicians to the
concepts and tools needed to bridge clinical expertise and
management competence. Physicians are integral in identifying
solutions that address the Triple Aim. As pressure to improve
financial and clinical performance increases, physicians are
uniquely positioned to tackle these issues. This program,
designed for physicians who recently have moved to a physician
executive position or physicians who are contemplating a move to
a leadership position in their organization, will provide physician
executives tools to assume more active roles in the leadership and
management of your organizations. The price for attending this
session is $830 for members and $995 for nonmembers.

18 Learning

Healthcare is in the midst of unprecedented change, yet many
organizations' change initiatives fail due to a lack of focus on the
human element of change. Incorporating robust process improvement methods-which include Lean, Six Sigma and formal
change management processes-can give organizations the tools
needed to achieve strategic and operational goals to tackle
complex, multifactorial issues. This session will provide a
high-level overview of RPI and take a detailed look at tools and
approaches for leading change and sustaining performance gains.
Learn practical ways to lead change and understand how culture
can help or hinder the efforts to improve performance at your
organization. Master Change Agents will present a simple,
four-component change-management model, which you can use
to begin facilitating successful change initiatives in your organizations. The price for attending this session is $995 for members
and $1,195 for nonmembers.
