Instructors can augment and adjust curriculum as needed and provide a dynamic learning environment through a flexible teaching
method informed by student self-reflection
assignments after each major component. Periodic self-reflection has been a crucial way for
students to also self-assess their critical consciousness development.
	 Future research on social justice-focused
living-learning communities is needed to
create a general understanding of how social
justice as an area of inquiry is explored. The
environment of the LLC is but one dimension
to how students develop critical consciousness.
Furthermore, the academic content and curriculum plays a significant part in their awareness and willingness to engage in social change
beyond service-learning. Bringing together the
pieces of academic content, service-learning,
travel, and the LLC environment appears to
create a richer, more holistic cumulative experience for the development of students' critical
consciousness.
