You see it bringing students and faculty together. You envision happy, well-rounded scholars who will graduate with the know-how and networking skills to make the world a better place. Now you just need the money to make it a reality. So where do you look for money to implement your program? While there is no formula to follow when seeking funding, housing officers who have successfully funded their programs can offer guidance on where to start. Start Close to Home When Ann Haase-Kehl, program director for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program, seeks funding, her first stop is her university’s foundation. “The UW Foundation helps match donors and funds,” she says. “Your university foundation can help you find out who has money.” Haase-Kehl says foundations are good partners that can help you target external funding sources as well as university foundation grants. She nurtures her strong relationship with the UW Foundation It may take some coordination and a lot of legwork, but you can find funding for your living-learning program. 84 Talking Stick
