Talking Stick - January/February 2009 - (Page 13) Your aCuHo-i 21st Century Project Winners Announced Three campuses have been selected by competitive process as host sites for potential new residence halls following the guidelines of the Association’s 21st Century Project. Indiana University in Bloomington, Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and Colorado College in Colorado Springs are scheduled to begin this process in early 2009. The three schools will convene their own meetings that model the original 21st Century Project summit. The results of those meetings may be used to construct the request-for-proposals which may be made available to architecture and design firms that will then bid for the contract as normal. More details available online at www.acuho-i.org and www.21stcenturyproject.com. Design Renovations Housing officers know the value of regular maintenance to keep things looking good. As you go through this latest issue of Talking Stick, you’ll see where we’ve patched up some holes, updated some of the looks, and added a fresh coat of paint. It wasn’t a full-scale refurbishment, but just a few design tweaks to keep the Talking Stick a place where ACUHO-I members want to be. A tip of the hat (and click of the mouse) to Talking Stick Managing Editor Camille Perlman and Art Director Ellen Gray for their time, effort, and ideas. On campus, renovations usually happen while the students are away. But with no mid-term break in the publishing world, Camille and Ellen had to work these changes into their regular workflow, and they did it without missing a beat. Of course, thanks are also due to our Talking Stick committee members Patrick Tanner (Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island) and D’aun Green (Texas Tech University in Lubbock) as well as all our volunteer writers who continue to supply us with excellent stories. Let us know what you think about the new look or anything about the Talking Stick (maybe even volunteer to be an author) by e-mailing us at talkingstick@acuho-i.org. And don’t forget to check out the digital edition, available from the ACUHO-I Web site and free to all individuals at member institutions.
