San Angelo, Texas Projected Opening: Phase I August 2011, Phase II August 2012 • Cost: $62 million Each phase of Plaza Verde will be designed by Randall Scott Architects. Phase I will house 400 residents in four three-story buildings, covering 130,000 square feet. Phase II will house 500 residents in five three-story buildings, covering 140,000 square feet. Phase I will also include a Commons building that will feature recreation spaces, meeting rooms, and residence hall administrative offices. The Commons spaces will be designed so they can be opened up to a large space or sectioned off for smaller events. All rooms in Plaza Verde will be doubles with private bathrooms, and each of the 16-18 rooms per floor will open to a shared living room with lounge-style furniture, flat screen televisions, and tables/chairs. The complex will serve as a First-Year Experience learning community. It is aiming to achieve LEED Gold certification.

Sterling, Colorado Projected Opening: June 2011 • Cost: $7 million Designed by Anderson Mason Dale Architects and built by Adolfson & Peterson Construction, Blue Spruce hall will be the first new building on campus in about a decade. The three-story facility will house 120 students in double rooms. It will also feature a two-story multi-use gallery, a lobby, a café, an outdoor dining area, shared outdoor courtyard spaces, study lounges, and a roof deck. It will achieve LEED Silver certification with a number of green features, including solar collection panels, thermal lighting controls, and higher efficiency hVAC systems. Also, water usage has been reduced by 30 percent by employing special water-conserving features and sustainable landscaping.

Boston, Massachusetts Projected Opening: September 2012 • Cost: $61 million The 21-story, 145,000-square-foot residence hall is one of four capital projects that will transform the campus over the next seven years. It will guarantee housing for first- and second-year students, and, when completed, it will allow 38 percent of the student body to be housed on campus, a major jump from the current 22 percent. The hall is being designed by ADD, Inc. and built by Suffolk Construction. Amenities include a café, an art gallery that will showcase alumni work, a health center, a fitness room, work studios, and lounges. It is expected to achieve LEED Silver certification.

Seattle, Washington Projected Opening: Phase I August 2011, Phase II September 2012 • Cost: $160 million The four-building complex will house 1,650 students in mostly double rooms with private bathrooms. There will also be some four-person apartment-style units. Amenities include group kitchens, music rooms, study and meeting rooms, a grocery store, a wellness and fitness center, a restaurant, an auditorium, retail space, and private garden terraces for each building. The complex will be designed by Mahlum Architects and built by Walsh Construction (Phase I) and W.G. Clark Construction (Phase II).
