Students on the Move
One-third of students transfer schools at least once during their undergraduate career, according to a February report by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. Out of the 2.8 million part- and full-time students in this study, more than half (55.8 percent) attended both a two-year and four-year institution from 2006 to 2011. The majority of mobile students also transferred schools during their second year of college. The study, “Transfer and Mobility: A National View of Pre-Degree Student Movement in Postsecondary Institutions,” also showed that more than one quarter of students transferred to an institution in a different state. www.studentclearinghouse. info/signature/2/NSC_Signature_ Report_2.pdf.
