Traxler Leaving Post with ACUHO-I
ACUHO-I Executive Director Sallie
Traxler will step down from her
position at the end of the year, the
association recently announced.
Traxler has led ACUHO-I for more
than 10 years and has overseen a
period of unprecedented growth and
achievement. ACUHO-I President
Patricia Martinez said in her
announcement to the membership,
"Sallie's service has been monumental
in moving us forward as an
association, and I thank her for her
tireless dedication to ACUHO-I and
its core values of visionary leadership,
inclusiveness, collaboration, integrity,
and learning. We are fortunate to have
had her with us for so long. I hope that
you will join me in thanking her for a
decade of service to ACUHO-I."
A transition committee will
spearhead the effective exit and
entrance of executive directors while
collaborating with the Executive Board
and key stakeholders. The committee
currently is meeting with search ﬁrms
and determining search guidelines.
Plans call for a new executive director
to be named during the fourth quarter
of 2014, allowing for an overlap of
service for a successful and effective
transition.
Traxler has been active in national

and international association
management for more than 17 years.
She received both her bachelor's and
master's degrees in communications
from Morehead State University in
Kentucky where she graduated with
honors, and she has also earned her
Executive MBA through The Ohio
State University Fisher College of
Business in Columbus. Before joining
ACUHO-I, she served as the executive
director of the Council of Development
Finance Agencies and as the director
of development and strategic alliances

for the National Business Incubation
Association.
Currently she represents
the association in a number of
international associations and
business partnerships. She served
as chair for the Council of Higher
Education Management Associations
and is also a part of the Student Affairs
in Higher Education Consortium
and the Consortium on Government
Relations for Student Affairs.

Changes Made to Executive Board Calendar
Approved by a recent membership vote, ACUHO-I Executive Board members' terms will now align with the calendar
year, rather than the schedule of the association's annual conference. The ACUHO-I Constitution previously
stipulated that Executive Board terms are coordinated with the dates of the association's annual conference. However,
through the years, as the association has diversiﬁed its offerings and grown in scope, the logic behind such a
schedule lessened.
This change will go into effect in January of 2015. As a result, the terms of the Executive Board members serving
at that time will be extended by approximately six months. While new members will take ofﬁce at the 2015 annual
conference, the next term will not begin at the 2016 annual conference but instead on January 1, 2017. In this
process, no terms will be shortened.
This change will better coordinate the association's strategic planning with its budget cycle. It will provide the
greatest opportunity to maximize the onboarding and educational process for new board members. It will also align
the Executive Board term schedule with that of the ACUHO-I Foundation Board of Trustees.
