In August 2014, Governors State University
transformed from an upper-division
university that served transfer undergraduate
and graduate students to a comprehensive
public university that serves all levels, from
first-year students to doctoral students. GSU
also opened its first on-campus residence
hall, Prairie Place, in August 2014.
Prairie Place is a 290-bed residence
facility that offers a mix of suites and
apartments and is occupied by students of
all class levels. The building is completely
wireless and contains community kitchens,
floor lounges, and a smart classroom where
residents can organize study sessions, attend
meetings, and gather to listen to guest
speakers. In addition to the residence hall
staff, there are three faculty-in-residence who
work with students on projects associated
with civic engagement, global citizenship,
and sustainability.
ACUHO-I welcomes new members who joined between
October 2, 2014, and December 2, 2014.
