Cost: $78 million
Oakland University is constructing a new residence hall
specifically for sophomores and juniors. There will be 750 beds
available. The 290,000-square-foot space will feature quad
units, made up of four individual bedrooms centered around an
in-unit bathroom and a kitchenette area. Inside the hall, there
will be two full kitchens that will also function as a dining area.
Additionally, there will be four 200-chair classrooms in the
building.

Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas
+ Company Rebrands
Established in 1979, Hanbury has grown
significantly, attaining recognition both nationally
and internationally. Recently, the firm has decided
to rebrand, and along with a name change to just
Hanbury, the rebranding will showcase the new path

Cost: $120 million
The University of Massachusetts Boston has broken ground
on its first on-campus residential complex. The complex will
have 1,000 beds and will be built through a public-private
partnership with Capstone Development. Housing within the
complex will be available mainly to first-year and transfer
students.

TALKING STICK

Signet has recently broken ground near The University of New
Mexico in Albuquerque on a 160,000-square-foot, six-story
building that will provide approximately 300 beds and will be
called Lobo Rainforest. Additionally, the building will house
the university's Innovation Academy, which encompasses
entrepreneurial education programs.

Memphis, Tennessee
Projected Opening: August 2018
Cost: $106 million
EdR is working with the Park7 Group to construct a new
housing community adjacent to Carnegie Mellon University
and the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. The 723-bed
student housing facility will offer studios alongside one-, two-,
and three-bedroom units. It will also have 10,000 square feet of
retail space with 381 parking spaces available.
