AROUND STUDENT AFFAIRS
Teri Bump, vice president of university relations/
student affairs at American Campus Communities in Austin, Texas, has been honored with the
2017 Pillar of the Profession award from the
Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) Foundation. This award is given to
individuals who demonstrate strong support for
the student affairs field, have served in leadership
roles, are recognized by peers for their service, and
have made significant lifetime contributions to the
field of higher education.
CUPA-HR Survey Reports
In their latest survey, Administrators in Higher
Education Salary Report, the College and University Professional Association for Human
Resources (CUPA-HR) has found that executive-only perks such as housing, vehicles, and
club memberships have been drastically cut
over the last year. Additionally, they found that
administrators who have been in their current
position less than five years make the highest
salaries. Since the average tenure for a college
or university president is typically shorter than
that for CEOs in the private business sector,
this salary point could explain why presidents'
tenures are shorter. To see the entire survey, go
