A variety of food concessions will be available throughout the convention center. Simply redeem your lunch ticket and then, Grab-and-Go! Different options are available daily. CONVENTION CENTER DINING While the pre-ordered Grab-and-Go lunches are an option, there will be a multitude of outlets—from coffee shops to cafés—offering a wide variety of food options at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. ADA FOUNDATION HEALTH SCREENING PROGRAM RETOOLED: RETURNS IN 2009 Even the Statue of Liberty and Washington Monument had to miss a few turns of the calendar during their restorations. But when these symbols of America were returned to public prominence afterwards, their iconic presence dazzled brighter than ever before. So it is with the ADA Foundation’s Health Screening Program (HSP), which will not be offered at the 2008 ADA Annual Session in San Antonio. The popular research program is being revitalized to more effectively meet the needs of its loyal participants and stakeholders. For almost half a century, the HSP has endeavored to make the dental office safer for dental professionals and their patients while advancing scientific research. The information gathered by the HSP has created the largest national database on the health of dental professionals. We gratefully acknowledge the support of our corporate sponsors, participants and friends who have made this valuable program possible. Thank you. With your support of HSP: • More than 60,000 dental professionals have participated since the program’s inception in 1964. • A discovery was uncovered demonstrating Hepatitis B virus was an occupational hazard for the dental team. • It has become the only screening program that collects data specific to the risks that dental professionals face. • The program has been offered complimentary to dentists, hygienists and chairside assistants. • Research investigators have published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals since 1975 using data obtained from the HSP, leading to significant improvements in the health and safety of the dental team. Be assured, we’ll be back. During the next year we will be partnering with our scientific peers in government, industry and academia to retool the HSP and the screenings that are offered. While we’re doing all this, we’ll give you periodic updates on this “work in progress” in ADA publications. Look for future information in the ADA News, on ADA.org and in other ADA communications, and visit us at the ADA Pavilion in San Antonio this fall. The HSP will return at the 2009 Annual Session in Honolulu.
